Japanese-Inspired Bel Air Mansion Designed by Mark Rios Lists For $29.75 Million

The six bedroom, eight full bathroom, and three half bathroom modern estate was built in 2014 by architect Mark Rios, who allowed AD inside in 2017. Accordingly, the structure has plenty of contemporary amenities to offer, along with the timeless charm of mountain and ocean views. “The library, in particular was fashioned after a room in Kyoto, using heavy, dark timbers. And the spa resembles old ryokans I’ve visited in Japan,” said Rios at the time.

Located below the pool, that decadent Japanese-style spa comes complete with a wooden tub, sauna, massage tables, and convenient changing rooms. R&R can also be achieved in the primary suite, which features a spacious glass balcony, and an en-suite bathroom with a deep soak tub and a glass standing shower that overlooks the mountains. From inside the gated motor court, the front of the sleek home looks like three simple white and grey cubes, and that same expressive simplicity continues into the interior. Floor-to-ceiling windows are used not only to showcase the home’s breathtaking hillside views, but also placed to frame the wooded areas surrounding the opposite side of the structure.

Other amenities include a gym, spacious walk-in closets, a wine room, an elevator, club room, and even a rooftop terrace that can be used for movie screenings. Outdoor space can be enjoyed while seated around a fire pit, from the 60-foot infinity edged pool, or from the cabana’s outdoor kitchen, bar, and dining area. Hilton & Hyland’s Jonah Wilson holds the listing.
